BAYOU OUT; NEW DIMENSION IN
-
CLEVELAND The Bayou Landing at 1012 Sumner Court has been recently purchased by local Clevelander Paul Hamlin. Under the management of Doug Mowery, New Dimension (the new name of the club) is already open for business and plans a grand opening for June 24, 25, 26. The club will feature disco every night Wed. Sun. from 9 p.m. 2:30 a.m. by Gregg Bewley, formerly of Baskervilles and presently of After Midnight. The interior of the old Bayou has undergone a change as well. There is, according to the new owner, "an Egyptian effect." Bullet-tube lighting highlights a soft melon and magenta backdrop. The light show remains but there will be additions. Planned in the future are wall graphics and chaser lights for the dance floor.
New Dimension has a $1 minimum every night for which a patron receives one drink ticket. Mowery said entertainment will frequently be provided on Sunday nights for which there will be a $2.00 admission. Said Mowery: "The shows will vary. There will not be a drag show everytime. We will feature national disco entertainers among others." Other New Dimension attractions will include a two for one night every Wednesday and soon, on Thursday's full-length feature films, the first of which "hopefully will be Fantasia." Chicago's "Beluga" will add to, but not interfere with Friday and Saturday night's dancing.
Added owner Paul Hamlin, "We hope to provide the hottest and most decadent disco between New York and Chicago."
